What Is Iron Contamination?

Every time your brakes engage, they shed microscopic metal particles into the air. Those particles land on your wheels, your paint, and anywhere else exposed to the road, you can even get iron fallout on your vehicle from the air — and over time they bond to the surface. Left untreated, embedded iron particles can:

How to Use Drippin' Iron Properly

  1. Wash first. Always start with a clean surface — iron decon works on what's left after a normal wash, not on top of loose dirt and grime.
  2. Work in the shade, on a cool surface. Avoid applying in direct sun or on a hot panel — chemicals evaporate too fast and won't have time to work.
  3. Apply generously. Spray an even coat over the wheel or panel you're treating.
  4. Let it dwell. Give the product time to react with embedded iron. You'll typically notice a visible reaction on contaminated areas — that's the product doing its job.
  5. Agitate if needed. For heavily contaminated wheels, a soft wheel brush helps work the product into tighter areas like barrels and lug areas.
  6. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse completely with water before it dries on the surface — don't let it sit longer than the recommended time.
  7. Follow up. For best results, follow with a clay bar or clay towel to remove any remaining bonded contaminants, then finish with your favorite protection product.
